Cooling Tower Packing Structure Demolition
As part of the re-purposing works, Elysium were responsible for demolishing the existing timber support structure and removing the packing and redundant cooling water pipes for Cooling Tower No. 7.
Risks
Collapse of the structure.
Falling materials.
Falls from height.
Value engineering
The timber structure was tied in with the tower’s concrete shell, meaning that the demolition sequence had to be carefully designed to eliminate the risk of damaging the Cooling Tower.
With the on site Structural Engineer ever-present, Elysium worked to an accelerated programme completing all works ahead of schedule.
