The team worked extended hours to successfully achieve the tight timescales. This allowed the main build for the power station to start on time. The project was achieved with zero incidents.

Risks

Numerous unrecorded buried live assets. Working around live HV cables and gas pipes. Strict timescales with substantial financial impact for delays.

Value engineering

The main gas line traversing the site was safely diverted around the perimeter. This involved constructing 50 RC concrete foundations with precisely installed holding down bolts to secure the steel frame.

To manage the logistics, the team put together a detailed plan — safely removing over 4,000 lorry loads of material from site and importing over 2,000.
