The future of engineering means bringing back the construction of Brunel
Director and founder Elson Bajrakurtaj was published in the New Civil Engineer, discussing the need to return to a single point solution in engineering.
In his article, he argued that the future of engineering rests on returning to the working methods of Isambard Kingdom Brunel and exchanging the confusion of multiple parties and fragmented processes for the coherency of one controlling mind.
Elson discussed the 3 ‘C’s of successful construction - communication, coordination and cooperation - and explored how a single point solution allows engineers to excel in every category. He also examined how simplifying the construction process unlocks new opportunities for innovation and allows for integration of sophisticated technology.
Issues born from the fragmentation of projects have long plagued the construction sector but the pandemic has exacerbated the situation. New health risks and restrictions have made communication more important than ever and it's increasingly apparent that a single point solution is the answer.
